Which area is considered the mosque and what must a woman wear?

A menstruating woman is not allowed in the mosque, which is the area of the prayer, since the Prophet ﷺ forbade this. However, in the majority opinion, NBIC does not fulfill the criterion of the mosque, and hence women may enter they prayer hall even upon menstruation. For those who follow the Maliki school, NBIC is a mosque and a woman may not enter any area where the prayer is observed, including the back room. However, she may enter the atrium and the gym.

As for clothing in the mosque, all schools require that clothing is neither tight nor transparent for men and women.

For women, everything but the face and hands to be covered (the Hanafi school does not require feet to be covered).

Men must cover from the naval to the knee with loose clothes.
